Good Bye 2024

Posted on 27th January 2025

It is now the end of January and am I still allowed to wish you love laughter and fabulous eyeliner for 2025, or has the chance whizzed me by like 2024?

Many years ago I had the pleasure of making up a lovely lady. I was late 20’s and thought I had a handle on life, (how wrong was I!). Anyway, I recall her saying to me as you get older life gets faster. I looked at her thinking she is crazy.. Time is time and can’t get any faster. Around 35 I noticed time between events and parties seem to get quicker. I blinked at 45 and suddenly I was 50!

I urge you all to appreciate and enjoy where you are right now, be present in your life even if it can some time suck …which it does from time to time. You can’t have rainbows without rain and sunshine!

My preach is over and lets get back to chatting all things makeup!

I would love to hear from you about what’s you current favourite product. The one you reach for daily, and cant live without.

1 trend we saw in 2024 was the need for hybrid products, especially products that offered skin care, concealer and coverage. As a women living by the sea I love a light weight product that gives me that fresh faced look

A product that not only effectively conceals blemishes, hides  dark circles and evens out uneven skin tones, but also achieves a second-skin effect with makeup that is virtually undetectable, sign me up!

Unfortunately you still need to use your regular moisturiser, eye creams and SPF before applying.

3 products that I loved and still do are –

Haus Labs - Triclone Skin Tech Hydrating Concealer. www.hauslabs.com

Arbonne CC cream, amazing light weight finish that is so easy to apply. www.arbonne.com

Erborian BB cream is light weight, evens out uneven skin tones . www/uk.erborian.com

One trend I was happy to wave goodbye too was BLRRED LIPS. Yep you read it correctly. In my opinion this look only ever looked good on the catwalks, (which it really did) and ok on teens and young 20 somethings.  Not a good look on anyone older than 30! So long blurred lilps, bye bye!

Towards the end of 2023 and all throughout 2024 we saw the re-emergence of  “C- sculpt” blush. A lifting and sculpting technique of applying a blusher.

The placement of blusher higher up on the temples is essentially contouring with blush versus bronzer; lifting the face, giving the look of high cheekbones.  To create a little more drama to the look sweep up and slightly over the outer edges of your brows to create this dramatic lifted look. I dare you, give it a go. As this look is still here in 2025.

Another tip, cream blushers tend to be a lot more flattering for 50’s Plus.

So what is IN for 2025?

I am seeing a bit of split right now.

Colours like Black, Berry red, Navy and Browns are always in for winter and showing no sign of disappearing. Personally, I am loving all the shades of brown for nails, lips and eyeshadow.

The other hand, those that are fed up with the greys of winter are want colour to cheer themselves up.

Eyeliner is a great way to do this if you don’t want to go for a bold lipstick.

The cat flick eyeliner in black is going nowhere. But you can embrace it by swiping over with a coloured eyeshadow or purchasing a coloured liquid eyeliner, then apply lots of lovely mascara especially to the otter corners.

The colour for now and into Spring is Lillac and Mauve.

This is for lips, blusher, eyeliners, eyeshadow wherever you want to place it.

Huda Beauty has recently launched a lilac face powder. Which looks great on medium to tan skins with warm undertones.

Let me know if you give any of these suggestions a go. Or if you just want to say hi, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading.

Love Zena. X
